Batch Processing

Batch Processing generates variations for multiple cache entries at once, saving time when you need to improve many entries.

When to Use Batch Processingโ€‹

Good Scenariosโ€‹

  • Initial setup: Many cache entries lack variations
  • After FAQ generation: New entries need variations
  • Bulk improvement: Systematic upgrade of cache quality
  • Periodic maintenance: Catch entries without variations

Skip Batch Whenโ€‹

  • Only a few entries need variations
  • You want fine control over each variation
  • Testing variation quality first

Filter Optionsโ€‹

Only Entries Without Variationsโ€‹

Default: Checked

When enabled:

  • Only processes entries that have zero variations
  • Skips entries that already have variations
  • Prevents duplicate work

Only Active Entriesโ€‹

Default: Checked

When enabled:

  • Only processes active (not disabled) entries
  • Ignores inactive cache entries
  • Focuses on content users actually see

How to Useโ€‹

Step 1: Configure Filtersโ€‹

  1. Go to the Variation Generator page
  2. Scroll to the Batch Variation Generation section
  3. Set your filter preferences:
    • โœ… Only entries without variations (recommended)
    • โœ… Only active entries (recommended)

Step 2: Start Processingโ€‹

  1. Click Start Batch Generation
  2. The system will find matching entries
  3. Processing begins automatically

Step 3: Monitor Progressโ€‹

Watch the progress display:

  • Progress bar shows completion percentage
  • Counter shows "X / Y entries processed"
  • Results appear as processing completes

Step 4: Review Resultsโ€‹

When complete, you'll see:

  • Total entries processed
  • Success count
  • Any failures

Understanding the Progress Displayโ€‹

Progress Barโ€‹

Shows visual completion status:

  • Green fill indicates progress
  • 100% means all entries processed

Progress Counterโ€‹

Shows numerical progress:

15 / 45 entries processed
  • First number: completed entries
  • Second number: total entries to process

Results Summaryโ€‹

After completion:

โœ… Batch complete!
- Processed: 45 entries
- Success: 43
- Failed: 2

What Happens During Processingโ€‹

For each entry, the system:

  1. Reads the cache entry question
  2. Generates 5 variations using AI
  3. Saves variations to the entry
  4. Moves to the next entry

Processing Speedโ€‹

  • Approximately 3-5 seconds per entry
  • 100 entries โ‰ˆ 5-8 minutes
  • Progress updates in real-time

Failuresโ€‹

If an entry fails:

  • Processing continues with next entry
  • Failed entries are noted in results
  • You can retry failed ones individually

After Batch Processingโ€‹

Verify Resultsโ€‹

  1. Go to Cache Management
  2. Check entries that were processed
  3. Verify variations were added
  4. Review variation quality

Spot-Check Qualityโ€‹

Even with batch processing, review some entries:

  • Open a few random entries
  • Check variation quality
  • Edit any that need improvement

Handle Failuresโ€‹

If some entries failed:

  1. Note which entries failed
  2. Try generating individually
  3. Check if the entry has issues

Best Practicesโ€‹

Start Smallโ€‹

Before processing all entries:

  1. Run on 5-10 entries first
  2. Review the results
  3. If quality is good, continue with more

Regular Batchesโ€‹

Consider running batch processing:

  • After creating many new cache entries
  • After running FAQ Generator
  • Monthly as part of maintenance

Review Scheduleโ€‹

After batch processing:

  • Same day: Spot-check 5-10 entries
  • Within a week: Review entries by usage
  • Monthly: Comprehensive quality review

Troubleshootingโ€‹

Processing Stuckโ€‹

If progress stops:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Wait a moment (AI processing can vary)
  • Refresh and try again if stuck for minutes

Many Failuresโ€‹

If many entries fail:

  • Check for connectivity issues
  • Try again later
  • Process in smaller batches

Poor Quality Variationsโ€‹

If generated variations are low quality:

  • Review the original questions
  • Consider improving cache entry questions
  • Use single generator for better control

No Entries Foundโ€‹

If batch finds 0 entries:

  • Check your filter settings
  • All entries may already have variations
  • Try unchecking "Only entries without variations"

Limitationsโ€‹

Processing Timeโ€‹

Large batches take time:

  • Plan for processing duration
  • Don't close the page during processing
  • Consider breaking into smaller batches

Variation Qualityโ€‹

Batch-generated variations are consistent but generic:

  • Good starting point
  • May need individual refinement
  • Review high-traffic entries manually
