This guide explains how to access the HFIM Admin Panel and keep your account secure.

Accessing the Admin Panelโ€‹

Login URLโ€‹

The admin panel is available at:

Login Processโ€‹

  1. Navigate to the admin panel URL in your web browser
  2. Enter your UGA email address (e.g., yourname@uga.edu)
  3. Enter your password
  4. Click "Login" or press Enter
First-Time Login

If this is your first time logging in, you should have received your credentials via email from the HFIM IT administrator. Contact support if you haven't received your credentials.

Login Requirementsโ€‹

To successfully log in, you need:

  • โœ… A valid UGA email address with admin permissions
  • โœ… Your admin panel password (not your UGA MyID password)
  • โœ… An active internet connection
  • โœ… A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
Different Password

Your admin panel password is separate from your UGA MyID password. Do not use your UGA MyID password to log in to the admin panel.

Who Has Access?โ€‹

The HFIM Admin Panel is restricted to:

  • ๐Ÿ‘ฅ HFIM Program Administrators - Full access to all features
  • ๐ŸŽ“ Faculty Members - Access granted by program coordinators
  • ๐Ÿ”ง IT Support Staff - Technical support and maintenance access
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Designated Staff - Limited access for specific duties

If you need access but don't have credentials, contact your program coordinator or email support@uga.edu.

Security Best Practicesโ€‹

Password Guidelinesโ€‹

Your admin panel password should be:

  • โœ… At least 8 characters long
  • โœ… Include uppercase and lowercase letters
  • โœ… Include numbers
  • โœ… Include special characters (!, @, #, $, etc.)
  • โŒ Not the same as your UGA MyID password
  • โŒ Not shared with anyone else

Protecting Your Accountโ€‹

Follow these security practices:

  1. Never share your login credentials with anyone
  2. Log out when finished, especially on shared computers
  3. Use a secure internet connection - avoid public Wi-Fi when possible
  4. Keep your password private - don't write it down or store it insecurely
  5. Close the browser tab when you're done working
Public Computers

If you must use a public or shared computer:

  1. Always use "Private" or "Incognito" browsing mode
  2. Never check "Remember Me"
  3. Log out completely when finished
  4. Close all browser windows before leaving

Session Managementโ€‹

How Long Can I Stay Logged In?โ€‹

Your admin panel session will:

  • โฑ๏ธ Stay active as long as you're actively using the panel
  • โฐ Expire after 30 minutes of inactivity
  • ๐Ÿ”„ Automatically log you out for security
Session Expired

If you see a "Session Expired" message, simply log in again. Your work is automatically saved, so you won't lose any changes.

Logging Outโ€‹

To log out of the admin panel:

  1. Look for the "Logout" button in the top right corner (if available)
  2. Or simply close the browser tab - your session will expire automatically
Before You Leave

Make sure to save any changes in open modals before logging out or closing the tab!

Troubleshooting Login Issuesโ€‹

"Invalid Credentials" Errorโ€‹

If you see this error:

  1. Double-check your email address - it must be your full UGA email (include @uga.edu)
  2. Verify your password - remember it's case-sensitive
  3. Make sure Caps Lock is off
  4. Try copying and pasting your password if you saved it securely

"Account Locked" Messageโ€‹

Your account may be temporarily locked if:

  • โš ๏ธ You entered the wrong password 5 times in a row
  • โš ๏ธ Suspicious activity was detected

What to do: Wait 15 minutes and try again, or contact support@uga.edu for immediate assistance.

Forgot Your Password?โ€‹

If you can't remember your password:

  1. Contact the HFIM IT administrator at support@uga.edu
  2. Provide your UGA email address for verification
  3. Wait for password reset instructions via email (usually within 1 business day)
No Self-Service Reset

Currently, there is no self-service password reset option. You must contact IT support to reset your password.

Page Won't Loadโ€‹

If the admin panel doesn't load:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Try refreshing the page (F5 or Ctrl/Cmd + R)
  3. Clear your browser cache and try again
  4. Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)
  5. Disable browser extensions that might interfere (ad blockers, etc.)

If problems persist, contact support@uga.edu.

Changing Your Passwordโ€‹

To change your admin panel password:

  1. Log in to the admin panel
  2. Contact IT support at support@uga.edu
  3. Request a password change
  4. Follow the instructions they provide
Regular Password Changes

For security, consider changing your password every 6 months or if you suspect it may have been compromised.

Account Security Tipsโ€‹

Recognize Phishing Attemptsโ€‹

Be cautious of:

  • ๐Ÿ“ง Emails asking for your password - legitimate requests never ask for passwords via email
  • ๐Ÿ”— Suspicious links - always verify the URL before logging in
  • โš ๏ธ Urgent security warnings - contact IT directly to verify
Report Suspicious Activity

If you receive suspicious emails or notice unusual activity in your account, immediately contact support@uga.edu.

Two-Factor Authenticationโ€‹

Currently, the admin panel does not require two-factor authentication (2FA). However:

  • ๐Ÿ” Always use a strong, unique password
  • ๐Ÿ“ฑ Consider using a password manager to generate and store secure passwords
  • ๐Ÿ”’ Enable browser security features like password protection
